Martha Burke graduated from CalPoly – San Luis Obispo in 2006 with a B.S. in Forestry and Natural Resources and a minor in Geographic Information Systems.  She worked as a forestry and GIS technician in Humboldt before moving to the Sierra Foothills.

Martha has been working for Applied Forest Management since spring of 2007, first as a forestry technician then as a Registered Professional Forester.  Her duties included assisting in timber harvest plan preparation, timber cursing, timber marking, timber harvest plan layout, GIS mapping, and numerous other forestland management actives.  In 2009, Martha took over as the Yuba Watershed Protection and Fire Safe Council coordinator where she was in charge of organizing and preparing for meetings, disseminating information to Council members, assisting with grant writing, and project coordination.  She recently guided the Council through the process of creating the Yuba Foothills Community Wildfire Protection Plan.  In 2014, Martha also took on the roll of facilitator for the Fire Safe Council, where is was immediately in charge of coordinating over $420,000 in grant funds from PG&E.
